About
Lano Carpets has been manufacturing artificial grass for indoor and outdoor use for over 20 years. The knowledge and experience we gained during those years, are our best guarantee for quality. The continuous improvement of our products and production processes enables Lano Sports to meet the technical specifications required by even the most specialised sports.
Our production of artificial grass is housed in the production site of Harelbeke, which is equipped with modern machinery. The production process already starts by choosing the best material. In addition, our customer-oriented research and development ensure the efficient delivery of an optimal product. Allowing to expand the sports department, Lano Sports became in 2003 an autonomous company, carrying its own Lano label.
The newest generation of artificial grass offers the benefits of natural grass for football, rugby and hockey and clay courts for tennis. Sports fields made of artificial grass, perfectly equal the view and ball behaviour of several kinds of foundations like natural grass and clay court.

Lano Sports uses both main groups of polymers in fibre yarns for the tufting of artifical grass: the polyolefins (polyethlylene and polypropylene) and polyamides (nylons).

Profoot MXS
Towards the end of 2007, Lano Sports launched its new PROFOOT MXS, the football turf of the future. We have combined the latest in yarn technology with the innovative developments in polyurethane backing, resulting in a revolutionary new product.
Profoot MXS is a two-tone duo monofilament synthetic turf system. It is a combination of two different yarn designs, hence the name MXS, multi cross section. One yarn type is rectangular and supersoft, the other is shaped like a diamond offering added resilience. Combined together, they dramatically improve playing characteristics since the stronger resilient yarns support the supersoft yarns enabling the fibres to remain upright making ball roll consistent, allowing the player a better 'feel' and making maintenance easier, thereby ensuring excellent consistent long term performance.
Not only do the yarns have different shapes, they also have a different colour, which makes for a two-tone product with aesthetics and playing characteristics to rival well-tended natural grass.
In addition to the MXS yarn technology, we use a high performance polyurethane backing, which dramatically improves the fibrelock of each individual filament and preserves your pitch from accelerated wear.

Fifa
FIFA has recognized the benifits of artificial grass. The FIFA Quality Concept is a rigorous test programme for artificial grass, whereby successful manufacturers are able to enter into a licensing programme for the use of the FIFA Recommended Mark.
Only artificial grass of the best quality with the highest technical standards are able to gain a FIFA Recommended endorsement. The FIFA Recommended Mark assures that only those surfaces, specifically suited to top-flight football, are qualified for this mark.
Artificial surfaces are submitted to laboratory tests and field tests, within three months after installation of the pitch.
A FIFA certificate issued after successful testing specifies also the artificial turf quality and the licenced pitches. Lano Sports obtained the "FIFA-Recommended" certificate thanks to the Profoot Premier quality, which was used for the football pitch Burjasot in Valencia, Spain. The strict demands of the FIFA Quality Concept are guaranteed by this very certificate.
Uefa
Probably from the 2004-05 season on, artifical turf pitches will be acceptable for all UEFA competition matches, provided that the playing surface fulfils the quality standards set by UEFA.
The "UEFA Approval Concept" is published in a manual, as a detailed and comprehensive statement of its requirements and recommendations for artificial turf pitches to be used for competion matches under the authority of the UEFA. The manual establishes both a technical bases for artificial grass approval for football and acts as a guide to those organisations contemplating the installation of artificial turf. The system of product approvals ensures uniformity and improves performance standards for the benefit of the game.
The UEFA-approval is needed before any artificial field can be used for UEFA competition matches. The UEFA Approval Concept results in a "UEFA Test Certificate" for pitches that conform the criteria and specification described in this manual.
Lano Sports has e.g. a UEFA Test Certifcate for its soccer quality Profoot Final 60.
National football
The National Football Federations can inspire themselves on the manual of the UEFA to promote the use of artifical turf pitches at national level and to secure its approval for competition matches. It is up to the National Football Federations to introduce this concept for all their competitions or up to a certain level and/or to impose further criteria or requirements.
Lano Sports obtained for its quality Profoot Premier the Certificazione Prodotto della Lega Nazionale Dilettanti.
Lano Sports obtained the Test Certificates of the Norwegian Football Association and the NOC*NSF (Netherlands). Certification Tests for other National Football Federations are continually ongoing.
TENNIS
General
The old English tradition of Wimbledon's natural grass has paved the way for synthetic grass as play surface. The different qualities of Lano Sports now compete with more traditional surfaces, such as clay court, natural grass, resin or porous concrete. The insertion of a well-adapted kind of sand infill, guarantees optimal rotation and sliding movements.
Artificial grass results in a consistently responsive surface and a predictable, true and uniform bounce, on a surface which offers a player comfort and attrative colour combinations.

Maintenance and cleaning
Lano Lab
A skilled staff and the possession of the needed test equipment in our lab allows us to continuous testing on products and research to improve, together with our R & D Department. The test procedure is not only limited to laboratory tests but field tests are also conducted. Our lab works closely together with the accredited laboratories for obtaining the official test reports.
Carpet schedule
Our specialized personnel offers to the surfacing contractors/installers a layout with the appropriate combination of rolls and joins for the specific fields. It reduces the installation time required and allows a cost efficient installation with limited waste of material. The layout takes into account the dimensions of the field of play , play lines and over-runs, in conformity with the rules.
